Hi, I’m Lauren Fell.
I’m a CPA turned professional coach, dedicated to helping professionals achieve success without sacrificing their well-being.
Through my coaching, I empower clients to enhance their performance, create more fulfilling careers, and make the changes needed to improve and manage their stress.
My Career Journey
I spent over a decade working in corporate tax, gaining extensive experience in both Public Accounting and Industry. While I was consistently promoted and recognized as a top performer, behind the scenes, I was struggling with perfectionism, self-doubt, and chronic stress. These challenges intensified as my responsibilities grew, leaving me in survival mode for much of my career.
Unsurprisingly, I felt burnt out multiple times. I believed that this was just the nature of the tax industry—that I had no control and would always have to work overtime, feel stressed, and be anxious. I was exhausted all the time, feeling like I was living to work. The stress from my job left me bringing my worst self home to my family, and I couldn’t even enjoy my personal life.
The turning point came when I pursued a Leadership Coaching certification at Rice University, where I discovered the power of self-leadership. I realized I had been blaming my circumstances for how I was feeling, but I never considered that my thoughts, feelings, and behaviors were playing a significant role in my experience at work. This new perspective helped me gain the self-awareness I needed to address the internal struggles that had been limiting my growth and negatively impacting my experience at work.
Coaching didn’t just change my work—it transformed my entire life. I became more present with my family, reduced my stress, and finally found balance between my career and personal life.
My Coaching Philosophy
My coaching philosophy is rooted in the belief that self-awareness is the foundation of career success. I help clients gain a deeper understanding of how they currently think, which is critical for shifting perspectives and creating lasting change. The way we think influences how we feel, and ultimately, how we act. That’s why true change starts with understanding your current mindset.
Understanding and changing your mindset is essential for reaching your goals. Simply taking action without addressing the underlying beliefs and thought patterns that drive your behavior often leads to ineffective or unsustainable results. Combining a shift in perspective with purposeful action ensures that changes are both impactful and lasting.
Everyone has a unique path to success, and my coaching is tailored to help you find yours. By working together to align your strengths, development areas, and desires, we can develop a personalized approach that works for you. I’ll be there every step of the way, helping you shift perspectives, develop new habits, and overcome the challenges that have been holding you back, while providing the support and accountability you need to succeed.
Why I Became a Coach
I first pursued a Coaching Certification while still working in tax because I was promoted into a leadership role, and I wanted to be more than just a boss or manager—I wanted to be a true leader. My goal was to inspire my team to perform at their best, which was essential for our small team to manage an overwhelming workload. I had spent my entire career on teams that were always scrambling to meet deadlines and operating under constant stress. I knew I didn’t want that for my team. I wanted things to be different. I believed that leadership wasn't just about managing tasks—it was about empowering people.
I later decided to leave tax and become a professional coach because I saw firsthand how transformative coaching could be. Coaching helped me shift my perspective and see my job in a completely different light, which allowed me to make choices that drastically improved my experience at work. I realized I had spent nearly a decade without this crucial insight—insight that could have changed the way I worked and led from the very beginning. Seeing the profound impact coaching had on me and my team, I became passionate about bringing this transformation to others.
This passion inspired me to form Lauren Fell Coaching, where I now help professionals unlock their potential, navigate challenges, and create more fulfilling careers.
Who I Help
Individuals
I work with professionals in demanding careers who are struggling with stress, self-doubt, or performance challenges. I partner with organizations to enhance employee performance, well-being, and leadership development. I help employees to build resilience, boost confidence, and improve their effectiveness at work—without adding even more responsibility to your managers' already full plates. Professional Credentials
I am a CPA with over a decade of experience in corporate tax, spanning both Public Accounting and Industry. Throughout my career, I not only developed technical expertise in tax and accounting, but I also gained valuable skills in client service, project management, team leadership, conflict resolution, and effective communication. In my leadership roles, I coached and mentored my direct reports, helping them build their own skills, navigate challenges, and grow into stronger professionals. I prioritized developing my team members' strengths while fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment.
In addition to my CPA license and corporate leadership experience, I hold a Leadership Coaching certification from The Doerr Institute for New Leaders at Rice University, an ICF-accredited program. I am also a member of the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the gold standard in professional coaching. As such, I am committed to upholding the highest standards of coaching and continually deepening my expertise to better serve my clients.
Life Outside of Work
I met my husband during my first week in public accounting, and we've been together for 11 years now. We live in Houston, Texas, with our 4-year-old daughter and our two Bengal cats. One of the best parts of leaving my corporate job is having the time to enjoy everyday moments, like cooking dinner for my family and being able to drop off and pick up my daughter from school without the rush.
In my free time, I love meditating, tackling puzzle books (especially logic puzzles), and reading anything that helps me better understand myself and others. My values of authenticity, compassion, contribution, and trust guide everything I do, both in my personal life and in my coaching practice.
