Employee Development Coaching

Retaining top talent starts with understanding the hidden struggles your employees face.

In today’s competitive job market, employee retention is more critical than ever—especially in industries where salaries are on the rise, and qualified new hires are getting harder to come by. Companies are feeling the pressure to get the most out of their existing employees.

But for many organizations, there’s an issue lurking beneath the surface:

Employees are silently struggling, and when they can’t cope, they don’t ask for help—they leave.

Hidden Challenges Your Employees Face

➡️ Fear of Mistakes and Self-Doubt: Many employees, even top performers, are overwhelmed by the fear of making mistakes. Instead of focusing on adding value or growing in their roles, they worry about performance reviews and avoid feedback, seeing it as a threat rather than a tool for growth.

➡️ High Expectations and Pressure: Employees are under constant pressure to meet high expectations. This creates an environment where they fear disappointing others, which often leads to excessive stress and diminished performance.

➡️ Inability to Communicate Needs: Employees often don’t know how to express their needs or ask for help, either because they fear being seen as incompetent or aren't sure how to approach their managers. This leaves them struggling in silence, with their performance slipping.

➡️ Struggling to Find Balance: Many employees juggle their workload without clarity or direction, leaving them unable to prioritize effectively or manage their time. This leads to inefficiency and a feeling of being overwhelmed by tasks.

➡️ Lack of Trust: In a fear-based environment, employees feel like anything they say could be used against them. They don’t fully trust those above them, knowing their performance reviews could be negatively impacted. This leaves them either confiding in their similarly inexperienced peers or bottling up their concerns.

Consequences for Your Organization

➡️ Underperformance: Employees are not maximizing their potential. Even your top performers are often held back by stress, self-doubt, and a fear-based mentality. They become more focused on avoiding mistakes than on adding value and growing in their roles.

➡️ Fear-Based Culture: A fear of failure permeates the workplace, preventing employees from stepping outside of their comfort zone or asking for help. This limits communication, innovation, and engagement.

➡️ Burnout and Turnover: Employees are burning out faster than ever, leading to higher turnover rates. This forces you to continuously hire and train new talent—an expensive and time-consuming process.

➡️ The Cycle of Overload: As employees leave, the remaining staff is forced to pick up the slack. This creates a vicious cycle of burnout, where the overworked team becomes increasingly disengaged and less productive.

➡️ Lack of Collaboration: Overstressed employees don’t have the time or energy to help their colleagues, leading to poor collaboration, deteriorating relationships, and low morale.

➡️ Declining Leadership Pipeline: Without proper support and development, emerging leaders may never fully reach their potential, leaving you with a lack of strong internal candidates for leadership positions.

Your employees should be able to focus on their work without constant fear of mistakes or bad performance reviews.

Managers shouldn’t have to constantly worry about turnover or dealing with underperformance in their teams.

What if you could support your employees without creating more responsibility for your managers?

Imagine a workplace where your employees are proactive, confident, and capable of managing challenges without constantly needing to rely on their managers.

A workplace where employees have the skills and support to grow in their roles, so they’re already equipped to succeed as managers when the time comes.

Without the burden of constantly solving problems for their direct reports, your managers can focus on driving the business forward, knowing their teams are self-sufficient, engaged, and performing at their best. Instead of relying on managers—who are often pressed for time, lack coaching skills, and have conflicting responsibilities—your employees have a trusted coach to help them grow and develop.

Imagine what’s possible if you could…

Reduce turnover by providing your employees the support they need early in their careers

Build a pipeline of strong, self-sufficient future managers

Free up your managers’ time so they can focus on strategic initiatives rather than day-to-day problem solving

Increase engagement and productivity by empowering employees to handle challenges on their own

Foster trust and collaboration as employees feel supported and confident in their roles

This doesn’t have to be a dream.

This can be your reality, and I can help your organization get there.

I’m here to help.

I'm Lauren, CPA & former corporate tax manager turned professional coach.

With over a decade of experience in corporate tax across both Public Accounting and Industry, I not only developed technical expertise in tax and accounting, but also gained valuable skills in client service, project management, team leadership, conflict resolution, and effective communication.

Despite consistent promotions and recognition as a Top Performer, I silently struggled with perfectionism, high expectations, and chronic stress, which intensified as my responsibilities grew. The turning point came when I pursued a Leadership Coaching certification at Rice University, where I discovered the importance of self-leadership for effective leadership. This new perspective helped me gain the self-awareness needed to overcome the challenges that were holding me back from reaching my full professional potential.

This transformation not only improved my leadership and communication skills but also changed my work experience entirely. I reduced my stress levels, and my team thrived—adding more value to the organization. Inspired by this experience, I founded Lauren Fell Coaching, where I now help clients achieve their performance, development, and career satisfaction goals by drawing on my corporate background, coaching skills, and leadership experience.
